Using pickle bath is extremely helpful if you have fabricated your rings, jewellery or have a particularly tarnished coin. If you genuinely want to you can spend $600 plus on a commercial pickle bath don’t bother reading any more. However, when you can purchase a slow cooker (Crock Pot by another name) from Big W / Woolwoths for less than $30, why wouldn’t you?

The important thing to remember is to use a good pickle compound. You want clean rings not lungs burnt from toxic fumes. the “LOW” setting on the average cooker will hold the pickle at 80° C, if the liquid is boiling it’s too hot. Then a “stainless steel” cake rack can be manipulated to give you a series of ring hangers so that you are not tempted to fish the rings out with pliers and alike.
So, for around $30 you have your very own pickle bath. Check out our pickle compound.
